If a positivity prompt does not fit your day, adapt it, choose a neutral version, or skip it. A prompt is an invitation, not a requirement to invent gratitude or a happy event. Your honest response matters more than completing every suggestion. You can return later without catching up on questions that did not suit you.
Identify what does not fit
A prompt may assume you had a conversation when you spent the day alone, or ask about an achievement when you were occupied with routine needs. Name the mismatch plainly. “I did not have that opportunity today” is a complete observation, not evidence that you did the practice incorrectly.
Make the smallest useful change
Change “Who encouraged you today?” to “What information or resource was useful today?” if that feels relevant. Keep the intention of noticing something actual rather than forcing the original scenario. If the alternative still feels artificial, stop rather than making the exercise into a puzzle you must solve.
Leave an honest example
Suppose a prompt asks for something exciting. You had a quiet day and appreciated a familiar meal. You can record that ordinary detail without calling it exciting. Another day, “Nothing comes to mind” may be the most accurate answer. Both preserve your experience instead of fitting it to a script.
Use the same choice in the app
Read the current Positivity Practice prompt and decide whether it is suitable. Account access does not obligate you to complete every daily activity. Keep personal notes only if you want them, and distinguish your own reflection from any result or response the activity records. A useful routine leaves space for different kinds of days.
